Do we take this saying very literally? The Good Book that says this assures us that if we ask with sincerity and faith, we will be granted our request.

Today, however, the same set of words take on a whole new meaning.

There is a man with a white cane waiting to cross the road, nervousness writ large on his face. Why did I pass him by? I don't know... did he ask me to help? Uh oh. If he had, I would certainly have done just that.

"Ouch" I say as I step gingerly down from an uneven curb to a road that seems a bit lower than my hurt knees can manage. Did I have someone with me that I could have held on to? Well, yes. But did I ask to be helped? No. Well, that explains why my companion has gone ahead and is waiting impatiently.

Get the drift?

Walter Raleigh style chivaly may be as obsolete as the 'Saurus, but... courtesy? Humane empathy?

It exists. Mercifully, it does, in pockets. But, by and large, we need to ask for anything to get done.

Not blaming. Just saying...

New gen language and gaping gaps

Calling my worthy peers, all of us that sit on lofty pedestals in the twilight zone of our respective lives - where we are neither venerable nor with it - do we understand teen talk?

I am sure I don't. Particularly the genre that has sprung to life thanks to numerous TV channels, FM Radio and the necessary evil of surplus entertainment.

Is " Feel" a verb or noun or hybrid in the sentence - " How was your feel?" ( not how DID you feel, mind you.) This is a mere fraction of the tip of a humungus iceberg. There is more as we rapidly translate back and forth from English to all regional languages creating a special avatar of the poor Queen's tongue that has no semblance to its parent.

But even as I grumble like a true snob, it isn't as if there aren't phrases pregnant with philosophy that spout from the mouth of babes and Babus.

I made a statement indicating a decision to do or buy something.

"For what joy?" asks my teen with typical nonchalance.

True.

Why should I indulge in activity or expend energy or money on anything that does not ultimately bring any joy - to me particularly.

Think about it.

And, maybe, its time to listen "around" jarring youthful lingo and see merit in the "stress free" thought process.

Honestly wished to be regular - haven't been able to. Seriously, when I see obsessive and addictive bloggers, I feel pretty silly - does one have blogger's block? Or blogger's clog? Am I an exception or are there more like me that lack blog discipline?

I have been mulling over the fact that corporate organizations should tell their stories more creatively. I have thoughts on this that might not be bought off - but that doesn't stop me from wondering. I do know for a fact that Alice in wonderland has been used, infact, thrashed threadbare for goal setting and management truths. Seriously, why can't one use fairy tales to talk corporate success?

To me, the ugly duckilng is about acceptance and identity crisis. Sleeping Beauty is the hibernation of ideas until a moment of awakening. Jack and the beanstalk is magical and dramatic success. The list is endless. So why can't Corporate Brochures be short stories ?

I wonder...

Share scare

It's a wonderfully open world out there - broadband, broad opportunity to share news and views, online communities, blogs and more.

With a growing teen at home hooked on to orkut, I wonder ( as always) at all this opportunity to share. Exciting. Interesting. and well, a bit scary too.

Guess one needs to grow up, rewire one's 'old' mindsets and come of cyber age.

So help me God.

The newest entrant to the social networking phenomenon is Rediff.com, which today launched "iShare", a social content sharing platform that will allow users share videos, music, pictures, et al. Rediff said it intends for "iShare" (http://ishare.rediff.com/) to bring together users sharing similar passions to form a vibrant online community. "iShare" is also expected to throw open opportunities for Indian youth to showcase their talent on the Internet. Besides, it will bring professionals newer audiences for their work.
Speaking at the launch, Ajit Balakrishnan, chairman and chief executive officer of Rediff.com, said, "With broadband becoming affordable, and social networking taking-off in India, we believe that 'iShare' will provide users a context to connect and enjoy a more comprehensive multimedia entertainment experience on the Internet."

According to Rediff.com, "iShare" is easy-to-use thanks to the light utility tool, which users can install on their PCs and then upload multiple files at low speed without having to worry about the source of these files.

So are we worried or not? Agra to get a face lift or will it crumble under tourism onslaught?
Do we have funds for infrastructure development or don't we? Can we implement projects or can't we? Will Agra come into total project radar or won't it?

Much before I'd even heard of blogs - or bothered to read one, leave alone create or write one, we had this site which was a haven for writers of all kinds.

http://www.zine5.com/v3/, the site, I am glad to say, continues to thrive and has grown richer in content. They have columnists and irregulars & comments and reviews galore. Way back in 2002 or was it 3, I was writing a column called "Of Cabbages and Kings" - on every topic that caught my frivolus fancy. I have grown away now - but still remember that wonderful freedom of expression that came my way. Quite out of the blue.

Maybe its time to touchbase again...

Or, having got started on this route, should I just stay the course and 'blog'?
